Major operation for the fire brigade on Friday evening in St. Margarethen an der Raab (Styria): a warehouse at a waste processing company caught fire. More than a hundred firefighters were working to extinguish the fire. The damage is significant.
The operators of a waste processing company were informed of the massive fire around 7:30 PM via a mobile alarm in combination with an on-site fire alarm, at the same time as the fire brigade.
Plastic on fire
A large amount of plastic was stored in the burning warehouse. The fire was extinguished an hour and a half after the alarm was raised.
The fire brigades St. Margarethen/Raab, Gleisdorf, Sulz bei Gleisdorf, Hofstätten an der Raab, Goggitsch, Takern II, Lauch and Weiz were deployed with a total of 105 personnel, and as a precaution the Red Cross was also on site.
The National Investigation Agency is investigating
The investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out today by the criminal investigation department of the state of Styria. The extent of the significant material damage has not yet been determined.
