The traffic rules actually leave no room for interpretation, but a 70-year-old motorist from Vorarlberg followed her own ‘traffic law’ on Saturday evening: First she hit two pedestrians with her car on a security path in Feldkirch – and then she said to them.
The pensioner drove along Reichsstrasse (L190) towards Rankweil around 5:15 p.m. At the same time, two pedestrians began crossing the street at a crosswalk. The 70-year-old noticed the two pedestrians too late, probably due to the dusk and rainy weather – despite heavy braking, a collision could no longer be avoided. One of the women suffered several injuries to her right hand and knee.
Pressed the accelerator and drove away
However, the reaction of the accident driver caused surprise: she stopped briefly, but only to shout at the passers-by, then pressed the accelerator and drove away in her slightly damaged car. Based on the statements of the two accident victims, the police were able to quickly trace them. Now the determined lady will have to answer for, among other things, hit-and-run.
