The pensioner drove along Reichsstrasse (L190) towards Rankweil around 5:15 p.m. At the same time, two pedestrians began crossing the street at a crosswalk. The 70-year-old noticed the two pedestrians too late, probably due to the dusk and rainy weather – despite heavy braking, a collision could no longer be avoided. One of the women suffered several injuries to her right hand and knee.

However, the reaction of the accident driver caused surprise: she stopped briefly, but only to shout at the passers-by, then pressed the accelerator and drove away in her slightly damaged car.
