The police in Oberwart are dealing with a series of reports of illegal shootings. In the present case, two young people endangered a couple with a child (2). The perpetrators set off a firecracker next to the family’s car.
For weeks, unknown people setting off fireworks in the middle of the city have been causing commotion and uncertainty among the population. A driver (37) from the Oberwart district shuddered on Monday evening when he drove with his wife and two-year-old son on national road 63a from Pinkafeld towards EO.
Jerk behind the wheel
Suddenly a firecracker exploded right next to the car with a loud bang and bright flashing lights. Despite the shock, the driver was able to stop the car. He saw two young people running away. The alerted police were able to quickly track down the two pyro-hooligans, aged 16 and 17.
Camp discovered
Investigators seized another 18 firecrackers from the young suspects. “A connection with the previously reported violations in Oberwart could not be established,” the state police headquarters in Eisenstadt said.
Extremely dangerous
The search for much more dangerous perpetrators is in full swing. They drive through the city center and throw ‘hell bangers’ into the streets, the explosive power of which is much greater than that of conventional fireworks. “The explosion of these possibly home-made ‘bombs’ could be fatal to anyone nearby,” experts warn.
Please help
It is still unclear who is behind the pyrotechnic attacks. The researchers hope for information from the public – in an urgent case, call the emergency number 133 or the Oberwart police station on 059 133 1240 100.
