The trade unions of the social initiative centers of the Basque Autonomous Community They have called for another ten days strike after the Christmas holidays. ELA, Steilas, CCOO, LAB and UGT urge the sector’s main employers, Kristau Eskola and AICE-IZEA, to negotiating the new employment contract.
In concrete terms, they declared a strike on those days January 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 and February 6, 7, 8, 19 and 20. Previously, in October and December, they had struck for nine days, with an average follow-up of 65%, according to the unions.
The employment contract of the coordinated social initiative centers expired in December 2021. The unions denounce that it is “an unacceptable lack of responsibility” that employers did not convene a table to renew the text and did not make any proposals after the strikes. .
However, they acknowledge that there have been ‘movements’ by employers, forced by work stoppages, but ‘there has been neither real negotiation nor proposals put forward’.
On the other hand, they have asked the Ministry of Education of the Basque government to intervene to channel the conflict, since “it is not just an agent and has a lot to say about the working conditions of these staff.”
Their main demands include easing workloads, measures to improve feminized and precarious sectors, salary increases to guarantee the CPI and measures to preserve jobs.
