Due to the poor quality of the ice, a 17-year-old fell into the rope while ice climbing in Tyrol on Thursday and hit the rock wall several times. The local population was injured and had to be taken to the clinic in Innsbruck.
The climbing accident took place around 1:15 p.m. in the “Hohen Warte” area in the municipality of Vals im Wipptal (Innsbruck-Land district). Due to the poor quality of the ice, the young Austrian fell about 15 meters into the safety rope and hit the ice or rock wall several times.

The 17-year-old suffered significant injuries in the fall and received first aid from his climbing partner. “The accident victim was taken to the valley by helicopter using rope rescue, where he received initial medical care and was then transferred to the clinic in Innsbruck,” police said.
