Cold record: below minus 30 degrees for the first time in Oslo

In the Norwegian capital Oslo, the temperature fell below minus 30 degrees Celsius for the first time since measurements began.

In Björnholt, in the north of the city, minus 31.1 degrees was measured between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Saturday night, according to data from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. The highest temperature measured at Wald Station in the past 24 hours was minus 21.9 degrees. Shortly before 9 a.m., according to the yr.no website, it was minus 29 degrees

Last night “was probably the coldest in terms of what we are dealing with,” said Martin Graneröd of the meteorological institute. In the center of Oslo it was even -21.5 degrees at night.

Also cold record in Northern Sweden
Northern Europe is currently being hit by a cold wave that will last for several days.

A cold record of minus 43.6 degrees was recorded in northern Sweden on Wednesday – the lowest temperature recorded in January on Swedish soil in the past 25 years.
