A private kindergarten in Vienna-Währing is about to close. The operator is accused of misuse of financing. Now there are 25 children without a childcare place. The parents are shocked.
For the parents of about twenty children aged three to five, the Christmas holidays ended with a shock. At the beginning of this week they were informed that the small private kindergarten in Vienna-Währing, with only one group, had to close at the end of January.
The operator would have used the financing privately
The reason: the operator is accused of using financing for private purposes. MA 10 subsequently cut funding, meaning the kindergarten can no longer finance itself and must close.
At the request of Christoph Wiederkehr (NEOS), the Viennese city councilor for Education, the case was confirmed. “An internal audit revealed that the childcare organization involved used the funding inappropriately. “The MA10 kindergartens of the City of Vienna have therefore initiated the termination of the financing agreement,” said Wiederkehr.
The city of Vienna is now looking for a suitable solution for the 25 children.
