According to its own statements, Ukraine has successfully deployed a drone in the northern Russian city of Saint Petersburg. “Yes, this night we hit a target, and this piece flew exactly 1,250 kilometers,” said Industry Minister Alexander Kamyshin, responsible for armaments.
The drone used was produced in Ukraine and costs just over 320 euros, Kamyshin said Thursday during a public discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Earlier, Ukrainian media, citing military intelligence sources, reported an attack on a fuel depot at the port – the Petersburg Oil Terminal – in the northern Russian city of more than a million inhabitants. And the target was hit. According to Russian information, three drones were intercepted in time. There was no damage.
“The enemy has reason to worry”
The spokesperson of the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service, Andriy Yusov, spoke on television about a new quality of the weapon used and its range. “The enemy has reason to worry about his military facilities in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region,” he said.
Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion for almost two years. The country is increasingly attacking targets in Russia.
