Hit-and-run accident early Thursday evening in the Tyrolean lowlands: A 62-year-old Ukrainian woman walking along the side of the road on Achenseestrasse was hit by a car. The woman then fell over the dike and suffered serious injuries. The unknown driver continued driving without stopping.
The accident took place in the municipality of Achenkirch. The 62-year-old Ukrainian was marching along the B181 shortly after 5:30 p.m Achenseestraße, towards the south, to pick up a friend at a nearby bus stop. And then it happened!
Seriously injured person slid over the dike
„On the way there, the woman was probably hit in the area of her left upper arm by the side mirror of a passing vehicle. This caused her to fall and subsequently slide approximately five meters on the adjacent roadside, where she was injured,” police said.
Husband started the rescue chain
The 62-year-old managed to call her husband on her mobile phone. Then he immediately started the rescue chain. “The Ukrainian woman likely suffered a fracture of her left upper arm and a dislocation of her left shoulder as a result of the impact,” the researchers continued. After first aid, she was taken by ambulance to the Schwaz district hospital.
The driver of the car continued driving without stopping. The victim was unable to provide any further information about the vehicle involved in the accident.
