There were two avalanche alarms in Tyrol on Saturday morning. In the Lechtal Alps in the Alples-Pleis-Spitze area (2648), a person was partially buried in an avalanche accident. The touring car was able to be dug out in time by his comrades. Nothing is currently known about his condition.

Search on the Gaiskogel
A little later the alarm had to be sounded in St. Sigmund im Sellrain. As initially reported, one person was buried on the Gaiskogel (2820) near Haggen. However, there could be three people buried. The accident happened on very steep terrain in the direction of Kraspestal. A search operation is currently underway, including with a helicopter and the Sellraintal mountain rescue service. Dog handlers are also brought into the operating area. However, rescue is difficult due to fog and precarious avalanche conditions.

Operations the day before
As reported, the emergency services were already in action almost continuously on Friday. Avalanches were reported in the lower Pitztal, in the Stubai Valley and in the Zillertal. One man was seriously injured and three others were seriously injured. Another victim probably escaped the shock and was not seriously injured.
