A visitor with a heart condition collapsed at the Franz von Assisi inn in the Salzburg Anif. The staff responded with presence of mind and immediately called 911. Then the anxious waiting began…
Dominik Bürk is still baffled: “It just doesn’t work that way, it’s an impertinence.” What makes the employee of the Franz von Assisi inn in Anif so angry?
A restaurant visitor became seriously ill within moments on Friday afternoon. “He is a regular guest and has already had several heart attacks,” says Bürk. The staff did not hesitate for a moment and immediately called the emergency number. But it took almost 50 minutes before an ambulance actually arrived at the inn.
Only on the third call did an ambulance arrive
“We called the Red Cross three times in total. “Nothing happened for an incredibly long time,” the Salzburger said in shock. Other visitors repeatedly asked him when the Red Cross would finally arrive. The affected person was approachable. “He rolled his eyes and looked really bad.”
After 45 minutes, Bürk called 911 again. “Then something finally happened,” he says. According to Bürk, an ambulance actually arrived on site 50 minutes after the first call. “He came from Hallein. “It’s not really far from our inn,” he says with a cynical undertone.
Red Cross considers operation ‘appropriate’
At Krone’s request, the Red Cross provided only brief information about the incident – and referred to data protection. However, it was noted that the matter had been extensively investigated. The result: the operation undoubtedly “went well”.
