Spectacular accident Monday afternoon in the Tyrolean Zillertal: a car broke through the outer railing of a parking garage and fell several meters onto the forecourt of a supermarket. The 73-year-old driver was trapped in the car and had to be freed by the fire brigade.
The spectacular accident took place around 11:30 am in Fügen. According to the police, the 73-year-old local resident parked his car in the parking garage on the first floor. For an unknown reason, the vehicle then broke through the railing and eventually fell about five to six meters.
The car ended up on its roof
The car hit the forecourt of the local supermarket and ended up on its roof. “The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by the fire brigade,” said police spokesman Stefan Eder when asked by “Krone”.
By helicopter to the hospital
The 73-year-old was injured in the accident. After initial treatment on site, he was flown by emergency helicopter to the Schwaz district hospital. The exact cause of the accident is still the subject of further investigation.
