The discounter “Lidl” announced a product recall on Wednesday: Gorgonzola cheese must therefore be recalled. Listeria monocytogenes was detected during an analysis, a news release said.
This concerns the cheese “Italiamo Gorgonzola DOP of the type “dolce/mild” 200 grams with an expiration date of February 24, 2024 from the manufacturer IGOR srl.
Serious gastrointestinal diseases possible
Lidl emphasized that the proven listeria bacteria can cause serious gastrointestinal diseases and flu-like symptoms. The product concerned was sold at Lidl Austria.
The item can be returned to all Lidl branches for a refund of the purchase price. Other products from the manufacturer IGOR srl sold at Lidl Austria, as well as other items from the “Italiamo” brand, are not included in the recall, the company said.
