The Russian military has massively adapted and scaled up its military-industrial complex over the past two years. An estimated 3.5 to five million artillery shells are produced annually in Russia, says Reisner of the Austrian Armed Forces. Ukraine, on the other hand, has virtually no capacity and the European Union has not fulfilled its promise to deliver a million grenades by the end of the year. “Resignation and despair” among soldiers
The military expert estimates that 400,000 Ukrainian forces are currently deployed to the front. Nearly 500,000 soldiers have been deployed on the Russian side. According to Reisner, approximately 500,000 military personnel have been killed or injured in the past two years (200,000 from Ukraine, 300,000 from Russia).
