A Lithuanian man who allegedly broke into stores in Austria several times and stole valuable laptops was arrested a year and a half after the manhunt began.
In September 2022, an expensive notebook was stolen from an electronics store in Liezen. The police conducted an intensive investigation and then came across a then 50-year-old from Lithuania. It soon became clear that he had struck in Austria not once, but at least nine times. That is why the Leoben Public Prosecution Service ordered the man’s arrest. However, since he was not in the country, he was wanted throughout Austria.
When checked, the handcuffs clicked
It was quiet around him for a long time. But in mid-February the man was caught during a routine check of the driver and vehicle. The officers recognized him and arrested him. Although there is clear surveillance camera footage of his coups, he only confessed to attempted theft in Upper Austria. He is reported and remains in custody for the time being.
