Russian President Vladimir Putin believes his country is prepared for nuclear war. From a military-technical point of view, Russia is ready to deploy its advanced weapons if the survival of the Russian state is threatened.
Russia’s nuclear weapons are more modern than those of other countries. But there was never a need to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
In August 2022, Putin said there could be “no winners” in a nuclear war. Such a war must “never be unleashed”. At the same time, the Kremlin leader assured that his country would not carry out a first nuclear strike.

Putin: “Joining NATO is pointless”
In the interview, the Kremlin chief described Finland and Sweden’s entry into NATO as meaningless: “This is an absolutely meaningless step (for Finland and Sweden) from the point of view of protecting their own national interests.”
“We had no troops there (on the Finnish border), now they will be there. There were no demolition systems there, now they are being moved there.”
Sweden and Finland are the last two countries to be admitted to NATO after long negotiations – and resistance from Hungary.
