On Tuesday afternoon, a pensioner camped in Kematen an der Krems. To rest he sat on a manhole cover, which gave way and he fell thirty feet. Emergency workers rescued the seriously injured man.
Five fire brigades were called to Kematen an der Krems on Tuesday afternoon for a “deep rescue of people”. An elderly gentleman had been resting on a well shaft cover when suddenly the cover broke and he fell about thirty feet into the well.
The ladder went into the well
First responders immediately rushed to the scene and handed the retiree a ladder to the well so he could stay afloat. The alerted fire brigades, including the altitude rescue team, were quickly on site.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the rescuers, the injured pensioner was safely rescued from the shaft with the help of a winch and transferred to the emergency doctor for further treatment. The person was then treated by an emergency doctor and taken to the Kepler clinic in Linz with serious injuries.
