Ultimately, the truck was stuck on a cycle path in Upper Austria for more than seven hours and could no longer continue. What went through the 54-year-old driver’s mind during his previous ride will probably remain his secret. He caused a total of three accidents.
First things first: The 54-year-old Bulgarian drove his truck from the B 149 towards Suben on Sunday between two and five in the morning. He hit two house walls and also crashed into a garden fence. After all, no one was injured in any of the three accidents, although the truck driver, who was not completely safe, did cause some material damage.
Fast for seven hours
But the 54-year-old didn’t let that stop him either: after the latest accident, he kept accelerating and tried to escape along the Inn cycle path, but police say his truck got stuck.
And then more than seven hours passed. It was only around 12.30pm that an employee of a company in Suben became aware of the truck and its desperate driver. The alerted police took the 54-year-old’s car keys. An alcohol test during lunch still showed 0.5 per mille.
