The state capital does not send notifications to citizens who are entitled to money from the Corona Fund. Now FPÖ state councilor Christoph Luisser steps into the ring against SPÖ mayor Matthias Stadler. That promises real robustness!
The black-blue state coalition only recently celebrated its first anniversary. So it has been so long since, at the insistence of the Freedom Party in Lower Austria, a fund was set up to reimburse the Corona fines that were later annulled by the Constitutional Court. Since then, remittances have been processed across the country.

Through the land? Obviously not. “I have noticed that St. Pölten is the only city in all of Lower Austria that opposes the reimbursement of Corona fines,” explains the responsible FPÖ state councilor Christoph Luisser in a letter to Matthias Stadler, SPÖ mayor of the state capital. The reason: “The city does not want to cover the costs of informing those affected,” says Luisser.
St. Pölten defends itself
You can’t let that happen at city hall. The counter: “If the FPÖ thinks that administrative criminal prosecution is a municipal task, they are wrong.” Such matters would be officially handled by the district administration. Since all such procedures in St. Pölten are carried out through the corresponding state authority program, it should be easy for the state itself to identify and write to those affected. “It seems unfair to implement a state measure at the expense of the legal cities,” Stadler repeats his argument that he had already put forward in February.
Criticism of the state capital
However, Luisser does not give up. The PVV even wants to reimburse the postage costs for sending the messages: ‘Unfortunately this was not accepted in St. Pölten.’ The State Council does not skimp on criticizing the attitude of the capital’s leadership. Luisser: “This is arbitrary and contradicts fundamental principles of social justice.”
