Date:

In Austria, 412 applications for injuries caused by the corona vaccine have been approved so far.

Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) announced this on Friday during the “question time” of the Federal Council. In 78 cases compensation was provided via a pension, the majority of the remaining cases were settled with a one-off amount.

The recognition rate is low
In total, more than 2,300 applications have been submitted. 17.8 million vaccine doses were destroyed because they were no longer sustainable. Rauch estimated the costs for disposal at more than 129,000 euros.

Those were the reasons
The most commonly reported injuries are fatigue, fever, body aches, headache, dizziness or circulation problems, nausea, numbness of the extremities, swelling or pain at the injection site.

According to the ministry, damage in the form of thrombosis, myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle), pericarditis (inflammation of the heart sac), Guillain-Barre syndrome, embolism and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) were also claimed.

Lawsuit against Biontech
The German biotech company Biontech had to face the first civil lawsuit in Hamburg in June 2023 over alleged damage caused by its corona vaccine Comirnaty. A plaintiff is demanding damages of at least 150,000 euros due to alleged vaccination damage.
