A driver in Vorarlberg lost control of his vehicle due to an acute health problem and then ran over a child’s foot on the sidewalk. The 61-year-old from the Bregenzerwald was walking in Kennelbach on Friday afternoon when he lost consciousness, police said.
The driver was on the L13 from Bregenz on the way to Wolfurt when the accident occurred. After the man lost consciousness, he drove off the right side of the road and collided with the child on the sidewalk. This one was slightly injured.
Crashed into a concrete wall without braking
The uncontrolled drive then continued and the victim’s car collided with a parked car, which in turn was pushed into another parked car. According to the police, the vehicle eventually crashed into a concrete wall near the supermarket.
Lenker could be resuscitated
A woman who witnessed the incident pulled the man out of the vehicle and, under telephone guidance from the blue light organizations, carried out resuscitation measures until the emergency services arrived. After successful resuscitation, the driver was taken to Feldkirch State Hospital. The cars involved were extensively damaged by the collisions.
