Had 1.6 per mille – Drunk woman crashes into oncoming traffic while driving

A heavily intoxicated woman drove her vehicle into oncoming traffic in Lower Austria on Friday morning and collided with an oncoming car. The force of the impact left the drunk woman seriously injured and trapped in her vehicle.

According to police, the driver was driving from Wieselburg in the Scheibbs district towards Gaming around 7:40 a.m. when the accident occurred.

Flown to hospital by helicopter
The volunteer fire brigade had to free the driver from the wreckage. After medical first aid, she was flown to Amstetten State Hospital with the Christopherus 15 rescue helicopter. An alcohol test in the hospital showed a value of more than 1.6 per mille. The driver of the accident from the Scheibbs district had her driver’s license temporarily confiscated.

17-year-old driver injured
The driver of the other car, a 17-year-old boy, suffered unknown injuries in the collision. She was taken to Scheibbs State Hospital by emergency responders.
