Head-on collision on the Glockner High Alpine Road in Salzburg: A violent collision occurred between a cyclist and a motorcyclist on Sunday.
The Swiss cyclist rode downhill towards Heiligenblut and avoided a wet stretch of road by entering a parking lot on the left side of the road. However, when he drove out of the parking lot, he overlooked the approaching motorcyclist who came from the direction of Heiligenblut.
High snow walls
The cyclist’s view was limited by a wall of snow approximately two meters high, leading to a head-on collision between the two cyclists.
The Swiss was seriously injured and flown by emergency helicopter to the Schwarzach Clinic, while the Austrian motorcyclist was taken by rescue efforts to the Tauern Clinic in Zell am See.
