It was a flash of inspiration during a long night shift at the Red Cross office: Wels teacher and emergency physician Daniel Lieb had the idea to get HBLW Wels students enthusiastic about serving a good cause in the red jacket – and put them on to become a paramedic in the classroom.
This idea became a concept and now the Wels model school is the first educational institution in all of Austria where paramedics are trained in regular classes. Red Cross President Walter Aichinger is happy with new helpers, director Karin Reiter-Forstinger is proud that this training prepares young people well for life. But how exactly does this training work? The “Krone” spoke about this with “inventor” Daniel Lieb.
