German police have resumed the search for missing Arian (6) (see video above). “We now do not understand why the boy is not found anywhere,” police spokesman Heiner van der Werp said on Monday.
There were many people along the Oste River this weekend. As reported, there are fears that the autistic boy has fallen into the water. Another search operation on the river is planned this week. “We will also use technical equipment,” the spokesperson said. In addition, residents of the towns near Arian’s home in Bremervörde-Elm should be asked if they have observed anything.
The boy has been missing since April 22. The police assume that he left the house on his own. For a week, hundreds of emergency services and volunteers searched day and night for the child, on land, from the air and in the water. Search dogs, a cavalry squadron, helicopters, drones, a Bundeswehr aircraft, an amphibious vehicle, boats and divers were deployed.
Bad luck was feared
At the end of April, the police temporarily stopped the active search. Five investigators were assigned to continue working on the case and following up on leads. The uncertainty is very stressful for the relatives and everyone involved, according to the police spokesperson. An accident still seems most likely. Footage from a private surveillance camera shows Arian running towards the forest.
Research is being done in all directions. “We have never ruled out that he was kidnapped.”
