74 firefighters – photovoltaic system made firefighting at the house more difficult

Date:

Major fire brigade action Monday afternoon in Thal: A fire broke out in the attic of a family home. More than 70 firefighters were present and luckily no people or animals were injured in the accident.

At around 3.30 pm, for reasons unknown, a fire is said to have started in the intermediate ceiling (between the upper floor and the uninhabited attic). Smoke billowed from the attic and attracted the attention of the residents.

The volunteer fire brigades Rohrbach-Steinberg, Heizendorf, St. Oswald-St. Bartholomä and Berndorf as well as the Gratkorn factory fire brigade were deployed with a total of 74 employees and six vehicles. The insulating material in the attic has been removed, embers are extinguished. According to the fire service, a photovoltaic installation on the roof made the operation, which lasted until 11 p.m., more difficult. The extent of the damage cannot yet be quantified, police said.
