There was a serious house fire in Vienna-Alsergrund on Monday evening. A 33-year-old tried to save himself from the flames by jumping over a window and was killed.
The fire broke out around 2 a.m. in an apartment on the second floor of an apartment building. The 33-year-old resident saw no other option than to jump out of the window into the open air.
An emergency doctor and paramedics from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service tried to resuscitate the man. But without success. The 33-year-old died from his serious injuries.
Cause of fire unclear
At the same time, the fire brigade was able to prevent the flames from spreading and extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
