Rights after a miscarriage – “We fight for hundreds of thousands of families!”

Date:

The birth of a stillborn child is already a traumatic experience. Experts criticize that the so-called star parents in Austria are still treated unequally: if the fetus weighs less than 500 grams, there are fewer rights. This could finally change.

Monika Romaniewicz had to go through hell in September 2022: she lost her child in the twentieth week of pregnancy. She was given induction medication to give birth. “I was having contractions. The birth and the whole treatment were a disaster,” she remembers. At this stage of pregnancy the placenta is already very mature. “That’s why I started having heavy bleeding afterwards. I asked when I should go back to work after this experience, but no one could give me an answer.”
