A serious traffic accident occurred on the Gailtalstrasse in St. Stefan in the Carinthian Gailtal on Saturday morning. Two vehicles collided head-on. All three occupants had to be taken to hospital with injuries.
It is still completely unclear how the accident occurred shortly after 6:30 am on Gailtalstrasse. Shortly after the Köstendorfer Bridge, the two vehicles collided head-on. First responders immediately alerted emergency services, who arrived in a large contingent.
“We had to free all three occupants of the vehicle from the wreckage,” said Stefan Plesin, commander of the St. Stefan Volunteer Fire Department. After initial medical treatment, the injured were taken to hospital by the two rescue helicopters and the rescue team.
The fire brigades Förolach, Görtschach, Hermagor, Köstendorf, St. Stefan and the Red Cross with numerous emergency services and the police took action.
