During the heavy storm, a serious traffic accident occurred in the municipality of Gmunden in Upper Austria on Sunday night. While turning left, a 60-year-old collided with the car of a 56-year-old driver. Five of the seven occupants of both vehicles were injured in the collision.
A 60-year-old woman from Gmunden was driving on the B120 from Laakirchen towards Gmunden on Saturday evening around 9.40 pm together with her 61-year-old husband and a 32-year-old woman (both also from Gmunden). The woman wanted to turn left at an intersection.
56 year old captured
At the same time, a 56-year-old woman from Gmunden was also driving her car in the opposite direction on the B120. There were three family members in the car with her, ages 37, 46 and 60. When the 60-year-old tried to turn, the two vehicles collided at the intersection. The 56-year-old was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by the fire brigade.
Two seriously injured
Ultimately, five people were injured in the accident. Two, including the 56-year-old driver, were seriously injured, one person was moderately injured and two were slightly injured.
Two passengers, the 61-year-old husband and the 37-year-old, were unharmed. After initial care, the five were admitted to the Salzkammergut clinic in Vöcklabruck and the clinic in Wels. The B120 was completely closed for about an hour and a half.
