A holidaymaker has died and his wife was seriously injured following an electric shock in an outdoor jacuzzi in northwestern Mexico. The incident took place in a holiday apartment complex.
According to the attorney general’s office of the state of Sonora, the cause of the electrocution in Puerto Peñasco on the Gulf of California is under investigation.

According to the online portal TMZ, a woman tried to enter the hot tub when she saw the couple lying unconscious in it. She also received an electric shock.

Fundraising campaign started
Friends from the Texas city of El Paso started an online fundraising campaign to return the 43-year-old holidaymaker’s body to his home country and pay for the woman’s medical treatment. Puerto Peñasco is a popular holiday destination among American tourists and is located almost 100 kilometers from the border with the US state of Arizona.
