Otto emigrated from Klagenfurt more than 20 years ago – now Greece has made Carinthia the official “advertising star” of its new, international summer tourism campaign.
“And at some point I’ll stay there” – hardly anyone can stand for the famous STS hit better than Klagenfurt-born Otto. More than 20 years ago, he “escaped” for a vacation in Greece from exhaustion and impending burnout – never to return. The country has “captured” him.
“Think twice before going to Greece – once you’re here you’ll want to stay forever. And maybe you will stay too,” warns the emigrant, who is married to a Greek, in the recently presented summer campaign video of the Greek tourist office.
In the 90-second clip “Greece: You want to stay forever!” the chosen “Hellas advertising star” tells his life story in a poignant, emotional way – enthusing about the beauty of the country, his enthusiasm for Greece and its warm-hearted inhabitants.
“This year we decided to put a true story at the heart of our campaigns, touching the emotions of travelers and focusing on the authenticity of Greece as a destination. An identity and authenticity so strong that the visitor remembers to stay in our country forever,” explains Dimitris Fragakis, Secretary General of the Hellenic Tourist Board.
