25-year-old Christin Gerstorfer from Baden (Lower Austria) dived deeper than any Austrian at the CMAS World Cup Depth 2024 in the Philippines and set four new national records with her 63 meters depth! The video of the competition proves that the extreme sport is not for the faint of heart.
“Freediving taught me a lot about myself and my personal mental strength. It also showed me what my body can do and gave me a more conscious body awareness. Underwater, we have to be able to trust ourselves 100 percent, because we are constantly balancing on the edge,” says breath-hold diver Christin Gerstorfer. When she was just twelve years old, the swimmer dived 15 meters into the depths. At the age of 16, she started practicing the dangerous extreme sport professionally and has been competing since 2022 – and with success.
