Gudrun Trutmann-Peter is a gifted early bird. The owner of the world-famous hotel “Im Weissen Rössl” on the Wolfgangsee in Upper Austria was apparently the only one awake around five o’clock on Sunday.
That should have saved a young, injured local from suffering longer. The night owl had fallen more than four meters from one of the arches in the parish church and fell onto the flat roof of the Seehotel relaxation room. The man had sat there and lost his balance. His cell phone, cigarettes and a drink were left at the scene of the accident.
Man was on the roof
“I heard screams for help and went outside,” said Trutmann-Peter, who quickly set the rescue chain in motion and alerted emergency services. The 45-year-old then grabbed a ladder and climbed up to the injured person: “He was unable to move properly.”
Mountain rescuers helped
Rescue and fire brigade were quickly on the scene. Three mountain rescuers were called in to get the injured man off the roof. “We’ll put him on a universal stretcher and release him safely,” explains Operations Manager Siegfried Gadocha (48). The young man was handed over to rescuers and taken to hospital. His exact health was not known on Sunday.
