Refunds to mutual members will have a direct impact on the institutions’ budgets for 2025

Date:

Although they do not provide exact figures, those responsible for the treasuries of the various Basque institutions have already announced that the proceeds to the common members will have consequences for the management of the institutions’ budgets.

The reimbursement related to ruling 255/2023, which affects pensioners who contributed to a mutual insurance company before 1 January 1979 and whose amount was returned during the 2023 income campaign, will have a direct impact on the budgets that Basque institutions will have to provide for the following year.

This was confirmed today by the government’s Minister of Finance and Finance, Christmas of Anjouwhen presenting the economic guidelines that will serve as the basis for preparing the 2025 budget law, the first of the current term.

He announced that with this expected economic growth, a ‘somewhat substantial’ budget is expected in principle, although he acknowledged that the proceeds paid by the provincial treasuries to the mutual funds will have a ‘major impact’ on this year’s income.

The deputy general of Gipuzkoa expressed himself in the same way last week: Eider Mendozawho also stated, without giving exact figures, that the statements about the members themselves will have consequences for the management of the budget of the regional institution.

The revenue campaign that has just ended has left Gipuzkoa with a negative balance of 48 million euros; The Guipuzcoan Ministry of Finance has returned 362 million euros and received 313. Although 2023 has been a good year economically, the negative balance is mainly due to the support provided by the Provincial Council to combat inflation and the money returned to pensioners who contributed to an investment fund before 1967: specifically, the regional institution has returned 38 million to more than 102 thousand pensioners.

For his part, the Deputy General of Araba, after the Council of Deputies last Tuesday, Ramiro Gonzalezhas asked to wait a few days until the balance of the income campaign is completed to announce the amount that will be returned to the common members.

This, he said, will have a “significant” impact on the management of the regional institution’s budget, although this has not yet been quantified.
