The Israeli military says it has killed two senior Hamas members, one of whom is believed to have carried out numerous attacks on Israel and is responsible for the central region of the Gaza Strip.
The forces also said they had killed a team leader from Hamas’ military intelligence service. The information could not initially be independently verified. The Israeli army was reportedly in the headquarters of the Palestinian aid agency UNRWA in the Gaza Strip (see video above). Forces were said to have discovered numerous weapons there on Wednesday. Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) are accused of using the headquarters for terrorist purposes. There has been no regular operation since the war began.
Air defense intercepted projectiles
According to Israeli reports, projectiles were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel on Thursday. Air defenses intercepted several, coming from the Rafah area. Those who fired the rockets in the morning were reportedly attacked and killed.
Israeli military operations in a neighborhood in eastern Gaza City are now said to be complete. Eight tunnels were destroyed and “dozens of terrorists were eliminated,” the report said. Combat facilities and booby-trapped buildings were destroyed. A local civil defense spokesman described the area as a “ghost town.” On Wednesday, all Gaza residents were urged to leave the city. Leaflets showed escape routes to the south.
