Alarm at the Vienna fire department Sunday evening around 8:15 p.m. A woman’s apartment on Mandlgasse in Meidling caught fire. Fortunately, the resident was able to get to safety herself, the fire department reported on Monday.
Residents brought outside
A fire brigade team reached the apartment with a breathing apparatus and extinguishing line directly via the staircase. The fire was also fought from outside. “Several people from other apartments attracted attention on their balconies,” the professional fire brigade reports. The residents were able to be brought outside via the staircase with escape filter hoods and handed over to the Vienna professional rescue service.
The cause of the fire is still unclear and is the subject of a police investigation. A total of 35 emergency services were involved in fighting the fire. The operation was finally terminated around 23:00.
