Fires guided missiles – North Korean tank spotted in Ukraine

Date:

Russian-North Korean solidarity is also becoming increasingly visible on the front in Ukraine. After the use of missiles from North Korea has already been proven, an image of a drone is now causing a stir. You see it: a North Korean armored vehicle.

Recently, Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin sealed a close military cooperation during his visit. Russia hopes to receive weapons and military equipment in the war of aggression against Ukraine. A first immediate result of this could be the sighting of a reconnaissance drone on the front near Kharkov.

Rotating launch vehicle
An image from the mission is said to show a Bulsae-4 anti-tank system – a North Korean-made system consisting of a wheeled tank with a rotating missile launcher mounted on it. Only very limited information is known about the Bulsae-4, but its unique feature is that it can fire guided missiles whose trajectory can be changed after launch.

Hits tanks in the most sensitive spot
The wheeled armored vehicle is based on the Soviet BTR-80 infantry fighting vehicle. The guided missiles, like the American Javelin anti-tank missile, should be able to hit tanks from above – that is, where they are usually most vulnerable. The missiles should be able to hit their target within a radius of up to ten kilometers.

The system was first touted on North Korean television in 2016, but it is unclear how many such tanks the isolated country has actually produced.

Welcome practical text in combat conditions
While military bloggers report that such a tank has already fired six missiles towards Ukraine, a spokesman for the Ukrainian armed forces has not yet confirmed that the sighting actually involved a Bulsae-4.

In any case, it has already been proven that North Korea has been supplying Russia with artillery shells and rockets for months. The delivery of military vehicles could now be a welcome field test for Kim Jong Un. In this way, the army will finally receive valuable data on the performance of the system under real combat conditions.
