A tragic incident occurred on Friday in Mölltal, Carinthia. A twelve-year-old girl lost her young life while hiking.
The twelve-year-old was hiking in the Barbarossa Gorge in the municipality of Mühldorf on Friday when she suddenly collapsed during the hike and subsequently died – as confirmed by the Carinthian State Police.
“Medical incident”
Further details about the already tragic incident are not being released to protect the family. “It was a medical incident. There will likely be no autopsy.”
Mayor affected
The mayor of Mühldorf, Erwin Angerer, is also concerned, as a case like this has never happened there before. “It is a rolling gorge through which a paved circular path with footbridges and bridges leads. It takes about an hour to complete the 2.7 kilometre loop. It is also easy to enter via a car park,” says Angerer when asked by “Krone”. The route is largely wooded and leads along a stream. According to Angerer, this is why it is also a popular excursion destination on warm days.
