A major operation is currently underway in South Tyrol due to a violent crime. According to reports in the Italian media, the son of a former gamekeeper shot a woman and possibly another person with his father’s gun on Sunday evening. He then barricaded himself in a house for hours.
Civil protection has called on residents of the Innichen community not to leave their homes.
Special forces stormed the house
As reported by Italian broadcaster RAI on Sunday morning, shots were fired again in the house. Special forces stormed the building. An ambulance arrived shortly afterwards.
Shortly afterwards, the civil protection withdrew its warning.
A message to the public read: “The police operation has ended and there is no longer any danger to the public.”
It is still unclear whether the perpetrator was killed during the operation or was only injured.
