A hiker discovered a forest fire in Tyrol on Friday and raised the alarm. The fire was probably caused by hot ash from a barbecue.
The 48-year-old Austrian was traveling in the municipality of Steinach am Brenner near the Bergeralm middle station when he suddenly noticed a forest fire. The man then informed the control center.
No one was injured
The volunteer fire brigade of Steinach am Brenner responded immediately and was able to extinguish the fire successfully. “The forest fire was most likely caused by hot ash from a barbecue in the area where the fire broke out,” the police said. Fortunately, no one was injured.
