A building belonging to an Israeli company was shot at in the Swedish city of Gothenburg on Thursday morning. A young man has been arrested and investigations are underway for attempted murder and serious weapons offences. There were no injuries.

According to the media, the shooter is still very young
Swedish media reported that the shots were fired at a subsidiary of an Israeli defense company. According to media information, the perpetrator is said to be younger than 15 years old; “Aftonbladet” talked about a 13-year-old boy. The company initially declined to comment on the incident.

Recently several incidents involving firearms
In recent days, several shooting incidents have occurred in various parts of Sweden, including in shopping centers, after which underage suspects have been arrested. About a week ago, shots were fired at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm. A few hours later, explosions occurred in front of the Israeli embassy in the Danish capital Copenhagen, believed to be related to the Stockholm shootings. In Copenhagen, young Swedes aged 16 and 19 were arrested on suspicion of crime.

Gang crime is difficult to control
Sweden has been struggling with gang crime for years, which has been difficult to control. In this context, shots and explosions are no longer uncommon in the Scandinavian EU country. Teenagers are often among the perpetrators and victims.

In particular, a gang conflict between the leader of the so-called Foxtrot network and one of the man’s rivals has repeatedly led to serious acts of violence in the country. According to Swedish media reports, Iran is trying to get both sides to carry out attacks on Israeli properties.
