Bacteria in drinking water! A warning was issued for 180 households in Weidlingbach, a cadastral community in the Tulln district (Lower Austria). Coliform bacteria were found during a standard examination. Now the fire brigade helps with the drinking water supply.
Although protective chlorination started immediately, the municipality says that under no circumstances should you use unboiled drinking water, some of which is still in the pipes. The rest of Klosterneuburg’s water supply is unaffected.
Extensive investigation is being conducted into the source of the contamination, the ministry said. The fire brigade has set up a water distribution point for the 180 affected households – daily from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
As long as the cause is not found, the measures will remain in force. And that may take some time: the town hall reports that a minimum duration of ten to fourteen days is currently assumed.
