We are now in bee breeding season – what do you do if you see one

We’re now in honeybee team season, but don’t panic if you see thousands of bugs outside. They are not a threat if you know what to do and what not to do.

Bee experts said you can see bees from April to October, from spring to fall. And when it comes to difference, you can see them on roofs, walls, floors, trees, fireplaces or cars.

Sue Fink, a retired hairdresser from Oldham, owns two chairs with over 60,000 bees together and spoke to the Manchester Evening News about the adorable bugs. He is like a “swarm eliminator” and has soothing words for whoever he meets.

He said, “When you see teams of bees attacking people in the movie, it doesn’t happen in real life. Because the team bees swear to protect the queen bee who is in this group.”

“They are only interested in protecting their queen. You can escort the group, you can stand and watch it, or you can sit under it and it will just ignore you.

“Remember, worker bees swear to protect their queen. And if you bother them with a stick and if the queen moves, the worker bees will go crazy and bite you.”

Som went on to explain the science behind why the bees congregate: “What happens sometimes is that the queen bee can age. She might not be successful. The bees noticed this: Their first motive is to protect the colony. So some bees look for a new place to live and once they leave The queen, bees enveloped in this ball.

“And because it can’t fly far, it can land on a wall, a tree, a car, anywhere. And the bees won’t hurt you at all.

“Then I came with my dress and my box. I grind the bees in a box and before I put the queen bee in the box, the other bees follow.

“Swimming is completely normal for a bee colony. You have a queen in the apiary and maybe 20 to 30 male bees with thousands of worker bees.

“Worker bees only live six weeks. The worker bees do all the work and literally burn out. When they die, the queen constantly lays her eggs, which hatch after 30 days into new worker bees.

He describes himself as a “good beekeeper” because selling honey isn’t his only beekeeping motive: he has a real passion for caring for winged insects. It has become popular in Oldham, Rochdale and surrounding areas for getting rid of wrinkles.

Beekeeper Roger Peel is a beekeeper in Cherdown, Gloucestershire near the village of Gloucester.

“People are already seeing bees, fortunately a human bee in my house yesterday flew into an empty vase, put it on a plate from above and took it out with the flowers,” said one of the people in his personal Facebook group.
