Trump wins Arizona and is declared winner of the seven ‘hinge states’

Date:

With the state’s 11 electoral votes, Trump reaches 312 delegates, eight more than the 304 he won in his first victory in 2016.

President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, has won the election battle in the state of Arizona, according to estimates by the American network CNN, which means a total victory for the tycoon in the seven so-called ‘hinge’ states: Pennsylvania, Carolina of the North , Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada and Arizona.

With the state’s eleven electoral votes, Trump reaches the 312 delegateseight more than the 304 he achieved in his first victory in 2016 against then-Democratic candidate, former Secretary of State and former first lady of the country, Hillary Clinton. Trump’s rival on this occasion, the Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris remains at 226 electoral votes, one less than Clinton’s. Arizona became a key state in the 2020 victory of outgoing President Joe Biden, whose vote margin over Trump was just 10,457 votes.

Moreover, Trump’s victory in the state represents the final abandonment, by voters, of the moderate Republicanism championed by figures like their late senator and former presidential candidate, John McCain. The only positive news of the evening for the Democrats is the provisional victory for Rubén Gallego in the Senate elections after defeating Kari Lake, one of the great exponents of the Trumpist movement in Arizona.
