There is great excitement after an open day at a new secondary school in the Melk district (Lower Austria). As a small gift, the primary school students received a small educational book to take with them. There are not only photos of naked people, but also a ‘sex dictionary’ and a gender role play.
What decisions does Leo have to make to be Jennifer? Primary school students who were able to take a look at a new secondary school in the Melk district during the open day can tackle these types of questions. Because they had received a booklet as a souvenir that deals with these types of questions.
“This is going too far”
“I think this goes way too far for a ten-year-old girl,” says a father (40) beside himself. His daughter showed him the book at home, which caused quite a stir. The subject of sexuality is given a lot of space in the work of more than 120 pages. You see drawn naked men and women in provocative poses, a naked wheelchair user and an unclothed black man, complains the father of three.
From drag queen to transgender
The ‘small sex lexicon’ section also explains terms such as transsexual, intersexual, drag queen and transgender. In a role play, the question mentioned at the beginning is asked which decisions Leo has to make. He has already encountered one thing in the text: he no longer goes to the boys’ toilet. “You have to take into account that nine- and ten-year-old children got this,” says the 40-year-old. The gift clearly missed the target group.
It is not yet entirely clear where the book comes from. “I asked three parents and classmates and they had all received this book. Apparently from the director personally,” said the father.
“No negative impact”
For Michael Sommer, education spokesman for the FPÖ Lower Austria, a scandal: “Children should be able to remain children and should not be negatively influenced by left-wing rainbow propaganda during their early development. This transgender indoctrination of our children in secondary schools and in this case even among primary school students must be stopped immediately!”
