Dangerous nicotine pouches are now being offered in front of the Viktring school center in Klagenfurt – and in any case for minors – these are prohibited. The rush for addictive drugs is enormous, the director is furious – and the parents’ hands are tied.
Snus, which is popular abroad and in Scandinavia – these are small tobacco pouches that you place under your upper lip – is not allowed to be sold in Austria. Yet the addictive drug is widespread in our country, including among students. What is dangerous is that the concentrated nicotine enters the bloodstream through the oral mucosa, has a significantly stronger effect than cigarettes and is quickly addictive.
It is extremely strange that in the middle of the largest school center in the country, a vending machine with similar products was quietly and secretly set up. The bags contain nicotine salts, making them just as dangerous as snus. “The machine is an invitation to try it out – irresponsible in the area of three schools,” says exasperated Brigitte Magnes, principal of the affected Viktring secondary school in Klagenfurt.
