This animal story touches the heart: the cat “Pancho” was missing for three years. Now he is cuddling with his owner again in Lower Austria.
A tomcat had burns when he was found in Vienna-Favoriten. “The injuries indicated he drove into the engine compartment of a car,” a zookeeper said. The purring patient was routinely checked for a chip at the animal shelter in Vösendorf.
Thanks to the chip, the owner was found
And what’s more: the cat had been reported missing for three years. However, contact with the owner was quickly made. And Sabine Weiss from Großenzersdorf, Gänserndorf district, was happy – she could hug “Pancho” again after such a long time.
Already on an adventure tour three times
“As a former street cat, he just goes away every few years,” laughs the animal lover, who, in addition to cats, also keeps a dog and four horses. In 2013, ‘Pancho’ – then almost two years old – was taken over by Weiss from the care of an animal protection organization. Since then he has been ‘ruined’ three times. “The first time he was found again in Fischamend, then again in Vienna, like now again,” says Weiss, describing how the adventurous cat apparently likes to drive unnoticed in cars, just like in his previous life.
Injuries as a lesson for “Pancho”?
However: ‘Pancho’ is now more than ten years old. And he must pay tribute to the tensions of the wandering life. “Maybe his current injuries were a lesson for him,” hopes owner Weiss.
