Chaos before Christmas – Storm: 100 flights canceled at Heathrow Airport

Date:

About 100 flights were canceled at London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday due to high winds and airspace restrictions. The weather bureau said severe storm warnings will remain in effect until 9 p.m.

A small number of flights have been canceled, according to a statement from the British capital’s largest airport. This ensures that the vast majority of passengers can travel as planned. Passengers were asked to check the status of their flight with their airline.

The British Meteorological Service issued warnings for large parts of the country this weekend. Accordingly, isolated wind gusts with speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour should occur.

Several ferry connections on the English Channel and between Northern Ireland and Scotland were canceled on Saturday due to unfavorable weather conditions.
