No, the ages of the victim and the perpetrator were not accidentally mixed up here. A 36-year-old from Pongau fell victim to online fraud. A 71-year-old elderly person ultimately turned out to be the mastermind behind the advanced fraud system.
The man from Pongau had bought toys for more than 100 euros on an online sales platform, but never received them.
After a police report and extensive investigation, a 71-year-old was identified as a suspect. The senior has Spanish nationality and also lives there. He is said to have committed a total of 134 fraudulent acts in just two days.
According to the police, damage of more than 10,000 euros was caused. The majority of those cheated are German citizens.
The 71-year-old, who is not in Austria, will be reported to the Salzburg public prosecutor’s office. Further investigations are continuing by the relevant authorities.
